Volunteer Support Worker

The Maleny Neighbourhood Centre (MNC) is a much-loved community hub in the heart of Maleny. We are a place where people come to connect, find support, share their skills, access information and services, and know that they are part of a community that cares.
As a Queensland Neighbourhood Centre, our role is to connect people with formal and informal support, strengthen social connection and inclusion, and bring our community together to respond to local needs. Our volunteers are at the heart of making this happen.
About the Role
We are looking for a warm, organised and community-minded Volunteer Support Worker to help us build and nurture a strong, diverse and connected team of volunteers. You will play an important role in ensuring our volunteers feel welcomed, supported andvalued. You will work closely with volunteers, staff, community service providers and community to ensure MNC remains a welcoming, safe, inclusive and professional place foreveryone.
The role is offered 16.5 hours per week, worked across three working days.
What You’ll Do
- Welcome, recruit, orientate and support our volunteers.
- Build positive relationships and create a strong sense of belonging.
- Match volunteers’ skills, interests and strengths with opportunities to contribute.
- Provide guidance and support so volunteers feel confident and valued.
- Encourage teamwork, respect, inclusion and empowerment.
- Support volunteers to represent MNC in a professional and welcoming manner.
- Promote and maintain community service provider networks and relationships
- Support volunteers to confidently and compassionately deliver the Neighbourhood Assistance Program
- Help develop a volunteer team that reflects the diverse and changing needs of our community.
About You
You will be someone who genuinely enjoys working with people and bringing people together.
Selection criteria:
- Experience working with or coordinating volunteers, particularly within a community or not-for-profit environment.
- Experience supporting people from diverse backgrounds, including people experiencing vulnerability or disadvantage.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to build respectful relationships.
- Demonstrated commitment to empowerment, inclusion and the principles of community development.
- An understanding of Workplace Health and Safety and the importance of creating safe environments.
- The ability to recognise and celebrate the unique skills, strengths and contributions of others, while creating meaningful, mutually beneficial opportunities for individuals to contribute
- A warm, approachable and positive nature, combined with the ability to provide appropriate guidance and leadership.
