Maleny Fix It Cafe has operated from the Maleny Neighbourhood Centre since 22 November 2012, providing a valuable service to the region. It is based on a European style Repair Café which started in Amsterdam in 2009.

Maleny Fix It Cafe operates between 9.00 AM and 2.00 PM on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. As a bonus, the Community Lunch is also available from 12.30 PM on those days.

It is a simple concept. People bring items to be repaired and they may even learn how to repair them. Repairing items, instead of dumping those treasured items, helps towards sustainability within our community. Activities undertaken include:

• • Small repairs to clothing
  • Minor repairs & adjustments for bicycles
  • Pottery wheels
  • Wooden furniture
  • Knife sharpening
  • Wheelbarrow wheels
  • Any small things – tie a leather decoration on a handbag
  • Sewing machine repairs – non electrical

Please note at this time we are unable to perform any repairs on electrical equipment.

For each item, a donation to MNC is requested. Item owners may be requested to source any required parts. All work is carried out by volunteers.
